NSFDA Awards Scholarship

The Nassau-Suffolk Funeral Directors Association is accepting applications for its annual scholarship(s), the number and amounts to be determined each year. The award is given at the Annual Meeting of NSFDA held on the second Tuesday of May. The application may be obtained by clicking the link below. The application and two attachments must be received by April 15 for Scholarship Committee review.

Applicants must have a home residency in Nassau or Suffolk County; be enrolled beyond his/her first semester in a New York State accredited mortuary science program and have a 3.0 GPA or better. The applicant must be recommended by a professor or teacher of the Mortuary Science Department of his/her school and intend to serve a Registered Residency in New York State. Attachments are (1) an essay of at least 500 words on the subject of why Funeral Directing was chosen as a profession and (2) a copy of last semester’s report card.

The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final. The Committee reserves the right to review all applications and award the scholarship to the student found to be the most promising applicant based on the above criteria without regard to sex, race, creed or ethnic origin. All materials become the property of the NSFDA Scholarship Committee and will not be returned. A determination letter will be mailed to all applicants two weeks before the Annual Meeting (to which the winner will be invited as a guest).
